Description
Take a moment to unplug yourself from reality, and plug yourself into your own personal relaxation island in Get Beached VR. The game includes several small activities to help relax on a small palm tree island. Skip rocks, meditate, listen to the sound of the ocean in shells, or draw in the sand.
This game was made in collaboration with Jackson Wong for the HTC Viveport competition. I was responsable for the design, programming, and testing in VR. Jackson was in charge of all the 3D assets for the game.

Feature Breakdown – Sand Drawing
This game had a very quick turn around, but one thing we wanted from the beginning was to be able to draw in the sand. Being on a desert island in VR, the sand would feel like a stiff board if it didn't have some interactivity.
To make this feature we used the Amplify Shader plugin for unity.
Through trial and error and the use of several snow tutorials we were able to get it working. The biggest issue we faced was using enough resolution for the island to not lose any performance in VR.

We already had shells in the world, but added in drift wood so that drawing in the sand could be achieved while standing up. Now any object in the sand can be used.
